BASEMENT RECORDS CLOSE-UP comes from a mural Aya Tarek painted in 2018 inside The Basement Records, a sound studio in Cairo, made for the room where the music actually gets made.
The print isolates the heart of the wall: a pale canvas bearing a charcoal drawing of parted lips, hung against a black ground lashed with thrown lines of yellow, blue, and white. Around it, everything moves; inside it, nothing does. A mouth mid-breath, drawn in soot and smoke, holding its silence in a room built for sound.
Produced as a giclée print on archival Hahnemühle Bamboo Fine Art 290 GSM (or equivalent archival matte fine art paper), each print hand-signed and numbered by the artist in pencil.
